Disposable and Soft Menstrual Cups – The Fun Alternative
A disposable or soft menstrual cup is a menstrual cup that is made from less durable materials than a normal menstrual cup. Unlike a menstrual cup, the materials of the soft cups are very soft, and the cup part is shallower. It fits over the cervix, much like a contraceptive diapragm does, rather than in the vagina like a normal cup or a tampon. After use, you empty it in the toilet, wrap it in toilet paper and throw it in the trash.
Because disposable cups are made differently from normal menstrual cups, it is safe to use during period sex to keep things clean. It is also ideal for ad-hoc usage just once or twice or just a few days of the year whne you need a few extra hours of protection.

Disposable menstrual cups have a number of advantages:
- They are worn internally like a tampon, but there is no string. So there are no embarrassing tell-tale signs that you are menstruating. No sting, no bulge or wings, no bunching or moving. There is no period odor.
- Since you just throw the disposable cup away after use, you do not have to invest in an expensive menstrual cup up-front. That means you can use them just for that special vacation. or special day, or for a sporting event or competition, a beach day, a day at Disney World or the water park, on a camping trip, on a flight or a long car drive.
- With a disposable cup, there is nothing to clean afterward since you just throw it away. No boiling water, no soaking, no cup cleaning liquid or equipment.
- Available from retail stores like Walmart, Kroger, Walgreens, Rite Aid, Target, CVS and online from Amazon
- Unlike a tampon, you can use a cup every day of your period. It cannot stick to your insides and cause problems removing it when you are still too dry for a tampon.
- Only one size, so you do not have to worry about the size, or trimming the stem.
- No TSS risk due to the cup. They have the same advantages as pads when it comes to TSS.
- Non-toxic, hypoallergenic, latex-free.
- Does not cause dryness or irritation like tampons and pads can do
- Manufacturers claim that their users report up to 60% less cramping versus when they use tampons
- Can be used for up to 12 hours at a time, unlike tampons. One cup holds 5 tampons worth of fluid.
- Last, but not least, this is the only menstrual product that is safe to use during sex to keep things clean. So you do not have to worry about your period on that very special day – Valentine’s day, or your wedding anniversary or your birthday or on your vacation
