Ella and EllaOne (Ulipristal Acetat)
Ella and EllaOne should be the first choice for emergency contraceptive pills.
Ella and EllaOne can make your normal birth control less effective. Do not take your normal birth control pills for 5 days after taking Ella or EllaOne.
Restart your normal birth control after 5 days, and use a backup method or abstain until you have taken 7 days of the active pills after that
Ella and EllaOne (Ulipristal Acetat) is much more effective than Plan-B. It can be taken after the LH hormone surge started. The LH surge happens just before ovulation. So Ella can work close to ovulation, where Plan-B can fail.
Ella and EllaOne also works for longer (5 days). 5 Days are at the outer edge of how long sperm can stay alive inside a woman’s body.
Ella/EllaOne is only available with a prescription. So it is worth it to get a prescription from your doctor, or you can get an internet prescription. If you are traveling away from your home base, or you are relying on condoms for birth control, it may be worth it to fill a prescription and keep it available where you have immediate access to it. The quicker you take emergency contraceptives, the more effective it is.
WARNING: Ella/EllaOne and your normal birth control pills can interfere with each other. Once you have taken Ella/EllaOne, STOP taking your normal birth control pills for 5 (five) days. On the 6th day, start your normal birth control pills again.
You have to consider yourself fertile until you have taken a full week (7 consecutive days) of the active pills of your birth control pills. So it may be better to skip the inactive (period) pill of the pack and continue straight on to the next pack. So the soonest you can have safe sex after taking Ella/EllaOne when you are on birth control is 12 days after you took Ella/EllaOne
